Settings menu, seasonal changes, permadeath, new items, bug fixing
Updates since the last devlog message:
- Added a Settings menu in which the screen resolution, font size, display mode (fullscreen/windowed), sound volume and keyboard bindings can be changed. The Settings menu is available both from the main menu and the main game screen. Settings are saved between game sessions.
Seasonal graphical changes to certain biomes, mainly deciduous forests which turn yellow/red during autumn and brown during winter.
- The game now automatically saves when quitting (Shift+Q) and the save file (if any) is deleted when the character dies. This ensures permadeath, a main feature of roguelikes. Currently, only one save file is supported at a time but this will later be extended to multiple files.
-
New craftable items added: staff sling (weapon), stone adze (tool), dugout canoe, thick lumber.
Added information about item qualities to Survivorpedia.
Numeric keypad (numpad) is now supported for movement in all eight directions as well as up and down (movement between surface and cave levels). For computers without keypad, the previous keys still work. To see all key bindings, press Shift + H from the main game screen. The Enter numpad key now also works and has the same function as Return.
Bug fixing:
Salt water sources were not being updated during tides.
Issues with boiling multiple containers of water at the same time could result in water being poured on the ground.
The game would crash when firing arrows.
Throwing experience was not gained for throwing weapons.
Best regards,
Christian
